This Giving Tuesday, we’re supporting Shriners Children’s™️ and their incredible mission to help children lead more fulfilling lives. We’ve made a $2,500 donation to kick off the season of giving, and we invite you to join us by making your own donation here!
A Legacy of Helping Kids
The story of Shriners Children's began more than a century ago with a group of Shriners who had a vision to make the world a better place. They saw a polio epidemic — and children in need of orthopedic care. The first Shriners Children's hospital opened in 1922, and since then Shriners Children’s has become one of the largest, most respected and renowned pediatric specialty healthcare systems in the world, with locations in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Today Shriners Children's provides advanced care to children from across the globe, regardless of a family’s ability to pay or insurance status.
The legacy of Shriners Children’s is extraordinary – with exceptional care provided for more than 1.5 million children with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate, to date. Our highly skilled physicians, surgeons, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, prosthetists and orthotists create individualized treatment plans for children with routine medical problems and sports injuries, as well as rare and complex conditions that may require years of specialized care. With our experienced medical teams and compassionate, family-centered care, our patients can believe in a bright, joyful future – a happy and healthy tomorrow.
Leaders in Research and Innovation
Shriners Children's is committed to advancing ever-higher quality care by partnering with outstanding educational institutions and providing specialty training for our medical teams. Research is also central to Shriners Children’s mission. Our investigators have been on the major forefront of discovery, with innovations and advanced technologies that help provide the best outcomes for the children we treat. The Shriners Children’s Genomics Institute was launched in 2017 to study gene sequencing with the goal to improve the personalized care for children with conditions treated by our healthcare system.
Shriners Children's says ‘Yes’ when others say ‘No’
Children come to Shriners Children’s for all levels of care, but many of our patients have complex injuries and rare conditions that require the expertise of our highly trained physicians. Families will often seek care at Shriners Children’s after learning that another facility does not have the expertise to treat their child. Some children have serious injuries or conditions that limit their mobility or dramatically affect their appearance or functioning, yet the family does not have the means to pay for care. At Shriners Children’s, all care is offered to children whether or not they have insurance and regardless of a family’s ability to pay. This mission to provide treatment for children would not be possible without the vision of our Shriners fraternity and the generosity of our valued donors.
Hope and Healing
Shriners Children’s teams are dedicated to supporting our patients in becoming as healthy, active and independent as they can be, with the best possible clinical outcomes. The healthcare system’s hospitals and clinics are places where hope and healing meet, compassion and expertise come together, and lives are changed.
