Our August Artist Pick is a Fayetteville, Georgia native with roots in poetry, and a list of influences ranging from George Jones to Otis Redding and Switchfoot. Zach John King spent his youth dreaming of escaping to something bigger, something more.
Before making his way to Nashville in 2021, King fronted an indie-rock band throughout college, which ultimately influenced his current raw alt-rock sound. King’s move to Music City was spurred by the desire to explore his country roots and push the genre, and himself, in a new direction.
King’s exploration allowed him to find his very own sound: minimalistic country-meets-rock. In 2023, he cemented his style with his first solo release, “Just Missed You”. A slew of other singles followed in its tracks until “Wannabe Cowboy” gained traction in 2024.
This past May, he released a six song EP titled Slow Down. Standout track “I Deserve A Heartbreak” has seen more than 25 million streams worldwide.
But King isn’t finished yet. In fact, he’s just getting started.
