Maybe it’s just nostalgia, but I consider the ’90s to be a renaissance in country music.
Yes, I recognize that I was coming of age during this time, but it gave birth to some of the best female country singers (and songs) in the history of the genre.
These women were singing songs that spoke to me as I went from a freckled faced kid to a young woman.
Here’s a look at 13 female country songs from the ’90s that I’m still singing along with today:
1. “She’s In Love With the Boy”
2. “Broken Wing”
3. “Wild One”
4. “XXX’s and OOO’s (American Girl)”
5. “Strawberry Wine”
6. “Any Man of Mine”
7. “Independence Day”
8. “Shut Up & Kiss Me”
9. “I Try to Think About Elvis”
10. “Nobody’s Gonna Rain on My Parade”
11. “Does He Love You”
12. “Heads Carolina, Tails California”
13. “Guys Do It All The Time”
14. “Better Things to Do”
15. “Two Sparrows in a Hurricane”
16. “Blue”
