This week, One Country Give will be making its fifth 10,000 meal contribution to South Texas Food Bank, a Feeding America affiliate that has been alleviating hunger and creating awareness in South Texas since 1989.
According to the South Texas Food Bank, 26 million pounds of food was distributed and 1.6 million clients were served between the 2019- 2020 year.
The South Texas Food Bank is located in Laredo and serves eight different counties by distributing food through partner organizations throughout Webb, Zapata, Jim Hogg, Val Verde, Maverick, Kinney, Dimmitt and Starr.
Most wanted items at the South Texas Food Bank include canned or dry beans, peanut butter, canned vegetables, grains, hot and cold cereal, canned fruits, 100% juice, healthy snacks and canned tuna, salmon or chicken.
