Congratulations to our friends at Twisted X footwear brand, who have been nominated for their sustainability efforts at the 2019 Plus Awards—created by Footwear Plus Magazine to recognize design and retail excellence throughout the footwear market.
“This is a great honor – to be nominated against some of the greatest footwear brands in the industry for sustainability,” said Twisted X VP of Marketing, Tricia Mahoney. “We are dedicated to helping save the planet in all aspects of our day to day. Cleaning up the environment is a no-brainer, and, as it turns out, we are making a difference.”
Nominated in the sustainability category for their ecoTWX® collection, Twisted X is committed to doing their part to save the planet by creating products from recycled plastic, agricultural waste and natural resources, while at the same time adding in the reforestation of the troubled tree population in the United States.
Each pair of footwear from the ecoTWX® collection is made from an average of 13 recycled plastic bottles and are lined with an eco-friendly blend of 50/50 ecoTWX® and bamboo charcoal. To date, Twisted X has recycled more than 2.5 Million bottles from polluted oceans and landfills.
“We have a responsibility as humans to help the environment and community we live in,” added Twisted X CEO, Prasad Reddy. “We have astonishing numbers that show that people are purchasing eco-conscious products, which drives us to keep doing more.”
In addition to using 100% recycled packaging for their product line, Twisted X’s efforts include reforestation, planting one tree in the U.S for every pair of shoes purchased from their ecoTWX collection through a partnership with One Tree Planted; The Arctic Shipping Pledge—not shipping their products through arctic waters, protecting our fragile ecosystem; and waste reduction.
